The DfE published their non-statutory guidance on flexible working in schools on 8th April 24 citing the employer’s legal duty to protect health, safety and welfare of their staff; Flexible working in schools – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). 

They cite a clear flexible working policy as being part of a school’s offer to support staff wellbeing and refer to their report Exploring flexible working practice in schools – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). 

The DfE have advised that they are currently funding a programme focused on embedding flexible working in schools and school Trusts though webinars and the peer support of flexible working ambassadors in schools and Trusts About | Flexible working in Multi-Academy Trusts and schools (flexibleworkingineducation.co.uk) .
