Safeguarding Training
Our Safeguarding experts Mandy Parry and Lucy Wyatt offer a wide selection of training courses;
Mandy Parry offers preplanned training courses set out in this PDF Document which can be booked through the DS Portal. In addition, she delivers bespoke training. It is important to note that if Mandy is delivering training for your organisation and an issue arises out of a discussion on the day, she is able to adapt the planned training at that time to focus on your needs during that session, rather than sticking to the training plan agenda so that you can make the most of her expert advice focus on what is most important to you. To find out more please contact Shelley Brown, our Training Provision Manager using our online form.
Lucy Wyatt (accredited trainer) is currently offering training on Safer Recruitment which can be booked through the DS Portal.
“I can thoroughly recommend the Safer Recruitment training delivered by Lucy Wyatt as an alternative to on-line versions. Being able to share best practice and discuss elements of the course with other delegates helps to embed the fundamental purpose of this important training ensuring that anyone involved in recruiting staff or volunteers to work with children, is empowered to do so safely.”
To book training that is scheduled to be delivered please go to our Training Information page or to discuss your training needs please contact our Training Provision Manager, Shelley Brown using our online form.

Updates
8 March 24: The Definition of Safeguarding in “Working Together to Safeguard Children”, has Changed
Take care with the web pages as text on Page 161 updates the glossary definition of “safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children” to match that on page 7 to 8.’ Page 161 has the old definition of safeguarding; page 7 has the new one.
We anticipate that the new statutory definition to appear in the next update to Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Promotion
To meet the growing demand for external, skilled but friendly and understanding support, we launched our DS Supportive Safeguarding Audit in February.
We review your Safeguarding Policy and we meet with a wide range of people involved in your organisation.
If there are any important immediate issues we may advise you how to address these on the day. You are then provided with a supporting RAG rated action plan and a Certificate of Achievement.
Once Gold/Outstanding outcomes are being achieved, you will then be encouraged to look at individual Safeguarding topic areas, where a more in-depth scrutiny will be beneficial, as part of your ongoing compliance journey.
We are able to flex this approach to suit our range of customers across our sectors of service, including Secondaries, Special Schools, Youth Services and Multi-Academy/Education Trusts, etc. For a quote please contact us.

“We have a very positive working relationship with delegated services. We have found them to be helpful, flexible and thorough as well as skilled and knowledgeable. They have been very supportive of our work and development in relation to health and safety. They are highly regarded by our schools and particularly in relation to their responsiveness when dealing with issues of concern or emergency situations. We have found all members of the team to be approachable and supportive.”
Louise Malik, Chief Financial and Operating Officer,
Lighthouse Schools Partnership
“We had our HSE inspection today. I am pleased to say she rated our Risk Assessment as ‘one of the best she’s seen’, so thanks very much for the model and the look-through and suggestions. As a result, we have no actions or advice.”
Mark Freeman, St Michaels Stoke Gifford
"It is so helpful to have all points so clearly identified and this has led to a real sense of purpose for our team in terms of quickly addressing actions. Your supportive audit has really helped us here at school, where busy times require items such as those identified by yourself to be a high priority."
Ro O’Reilly, Headteacher, Willowdown Primary
“The teaching and senior leadership staff and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for delivering a superb twilight session yesterday afternoon/evening. Having spoken to a number of staff reflecting on the twilight session they felt that the delivery and execution of the session was superlative. The general consensus from the session was that all staff present came away with a tangible sense of 'risk awareness'...”
Andrew Haynes, Cotham Gardens Premises Manager
“You and your team have been an invaluable support during this whole pandemic. ”
Richard Bamber, Headteacher Westbury Park Primary School (2021)
“A huge thank you to you and your team Bill, for guiding us in these difficult times – your advice has been outstanding, and I wouldn’t have known where to begin.”
Lisa Parker Headteacher Warmley Park School and College
“I must say, the information you have been providing to schools is exceptional – please can you pass on my feedback to the whole team for the amazing job they are doing”.
Mrs Karen, Llewellyn School Business Manager
“DS has an in-depth understanding of leaders’ issues and provides the information and written guidance required, often before you are aware that you need it.
They provide a wide-ranging and comprehensive set of up-to-date model policies and risk assessments. Using these allows the education and community sectors to focus more resources on educating and providing services to the community, reducing the time and resources needed, leaving school leaders with a sense that they have done more than “tick the boxes”.
The reassuring telephone response to urgent issues has been incredible.”
